Welcome to Life Development Institute
Our
Mission
Provide innovative experiential learning and a practical, supportive transition
process to adult living.
Who
We Serve
Young men and women between the ages of 18-30
who have cognitive, emotional, or neurological conditions such as learning
disabilities, ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, NLD, depression, anxiety
and other related disorders.
The Institute is dedicated to providing its students an abilities-based
program offering opportunities to challenge themselves to learn, take
healthy risks, and grow emotionally, functionally, and professionally.
Our
Program Focus and Philosophy
LDI’s instruction, community linkages, employability
and career development strategies relate to the actual marketplace conditions
of the world of work and daily requirements of adult living. Thus, they
are not purely academic, disability-oriented, or treatment-centered in
focus. Rather, the class and community approach used by LDI embraces personal
development/competency through and in the adult community.
We collaborate and develop strategic partnerships with local and national organizations. Two dynamic examples of these community alliances that I proudly invite you to view are Jobing.com and the Diversity Leadership Alliance. These organizations are actively engaged with the Life Development Institute to ensure that our students are full partners in building an inclusive community.
