Student Life FAQ
• How long can my son/daughter come home over the summer?
This is dependent on the student’s work and college class schedule.
• Can my son/daughter come home on weekends?
Students can go home for special occasions, long weekends, holidays, etc., as long as it does not interfere with program goals and activities.
• What forms of community involvement and activities are available?
Students have the opportunity to volunteer and participate in weekly LDI sponsored activities. (See Social Activities)
• Can my adult child have a vehicle?
Yes, students are allowed to have a vehicle;
however, due to limited parking our 1st students are not permitted to drive over to LDI
program offices during regular school hours (8:00am-2:30pm)
• What is policy for students riding in each others vehicles?
Students are responsible
for the safety of other occupants in the vehicle.
• What transportation resources are available to my son/daughter for other
commitments?
Students have access to several forms of public transportation, such as dial-a-ride, taxi service, bus service, etc.
• Can my daughter/son have a pet or bring the family pet?
Only students in a one bedroom apartment are allowed to have a pet. In addition, students are required to pay a pet deposit.
• What is LDI’s policy on over-night guests staying with students?
No overnight guests are allowed if your son/daughter has a roommate. In a one bedroom apartment only one immediate family member can stay for up to 2 days, prior authorization must be granted by the program advisor who gets approval from the apartment property
management company.
